Situated on the Green of the historic East Sussex village of East Dean this cottage has a wealth of charm and great historical interest. Dating back to the 1600's the cottage was used by smugglers and underground tunnels were reputed to reach the Tiger Inn and the beach at Birling Gap. Alas the tunnels no longer exist but the Tiger Inn is only a few steps away and the seashore at Birling Gap a short walk. The pet friendly property is ideally located for walkers and country-lovers exploring The South Downs National Park, Seven Sisters Country Park, Beachy Head and the wonderful surrounding Sussex countryside. The property has 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to six guests. There are two reception rooms and a garden room. The pretty secluded garden to the rear of the property is terraced with steps between terraces. The cottage has Wifi throughout and all bedlinen and towels are provided.


Drawing Room

This traditional room has beamed ceilings and is comfortably furnished. "A get away from it all room", it is ideal for reading, listening to music or sitting quietly. The room looks directly out onto The Green at the front.

Living / Dining Room

Across the hallway from the drawing room is the large living room with great views across the village Green. Sofa and chairs and a television are at one end of the room, and a dining table and six chairs are at the other end.

Kitchen

From the living room there are three steps leading up to a large bright kitchen. It has a table and chairs for informal dining and a good selection of crockery and cutlery, pots and pans, microwave, hob and oven, dishwasher & washing machine, fridge/freezer. and has plenty of storage cupboards including a large pantry. A door from the kitchen leads to a small patio and the garden can be accessed via steps from this area.

From the hallway stairs rise to the first floor.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, a bedside table, hanging space and a chest of drawers. There is a vanity unit with wash handbasin. The bedroom has views both over the garden at the rear of the property and the village Green at the front.

Twin Bedroom

The second bedroom has twin beds, a bedside table and lamp and a walk in wardrobe. It is bright and well decorated. It has views to the front over the Green.

Single Bedroom

A good sized single bedroom with bed, bedside table, lamp, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

Shower Room

There is a large shower room with double sized shower, toilet and wash handbasin. The shower has an integral seat which is beneficial for less able guests.

Garden Room

Rising up a few stairs from the first floor landing is a delightful garden room with views over the garden. The room is furnished with comfortable cane furniture and there are double doors leading onto the garden which can be accessed via a few steps.

Family Bathroom

The bathroom has a bath with over shower, toilet and wash handbasin.

Gardens

To the rear of the property is a delightful private terraced garden which is gated so your dog cannot escape to the road. The main level of the garden is accessed from the garden room (down four steps) or from the kitchen (up eight steps). Other small areas of the gardens have steps between each terrace. There is a table and chairs for outdoor dining and other occasional seating around the garden.

Parking

There are a few spaces of unrestricted parking available on the road outside the property. Alternatively, there is a free car park next to the pub two minutes walk away. We ask you to avoid resident allocated spaces.

Shopping
Why not order your shopping online so it arrives just after you do? That way you can start your holiday without wasting time in the supermarket. Your arrival time at the cottage is from 4pm. All the major supermarkets in Eastbourne provide an internet shopping delivery service so you can choose from Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco, and Waitrose.
