Pevensey Castle is a fabulous day out for everyone with English history just oozing from the ancient walls; dungeons to explore, ghosts to catch a glimpse of and beautiful grounds to walk and have fun and games in. There is a cafe and restaurant for well-deserved breaks and even the occasional medieval joust; at a little less than 6 milesaway, it can be walked to if you want a big adventure. Further afield, Hastings (14 miles) continues the historical theme with boutique shops and cafes to add to your day.
